Imagine playing a role in transforming entertainment across Canada and holen sie sich viagra online reliving that every time you go to the movies? Colin MacIntyre, CM, Marketing Leader, Technology at IBM Canada, has had a remarkable journey. But Canadian marketing doesn’t need more Colins—it needs people with complementary skills.
What We Do
Marketing moves quickly. The CM program is vital because it allows designees to promote their expertise. It’s more than having a deep understanding of a single aspect or being proficient with a piece of technology; it shows that Chartered Marketers understand the big picture and purpose of what we do.
A Way of Thinking
Marketing is as much a way of thinking as it is a calling. Operations, analytics, and process improvement indirectly lead me to marketing. I’d like to think there was a natural progression to it. As I learned how to run a business and measure success, I met some amazing marketers who spent most of their days telling their clients stories. They were ensuring that the end consumer understood why they should care about our work with them. That stuck with me.
Own It
Marketers need to be experts at everything they touch because a custom, client-centric discussion is key to driving engagement. It can be unrealistic and is a constant challenge, but also necessary; you can’t authentically talk about your business with potential clients and stakeholders if you don’t understand it. So be curious, carve out time to learn and ask questions, and never try to promote something you don’t understand, especially to an audience more informed than you are. Finally, if you don’t know something, own it and call out that you’ll find out.
Innovate and acheter du cialis sans ordonnance Learn
Staying current is not a linear process or single program. I’m fortunate to have some amazing internal enablement tools and curricula at my disposal. An interlock between new, cutting-edge concepts and industry best practices helps ensure we both innovate and learn from our teams and predecessors. Then, industry-focused continual education programs are vital. It’s a great opportunity to network and grow at the same time. I jump into those with both feet!
Rise to the Occasion
Our industry has a broad reach and moves quickly. It’s very challenging to reliably reskill and online pharmacy no prescription upskill not only personally but across a diverse team. Success comes when your team brings the full gamut of skills, thought processes, and experiences – we don’t need more of me, we need to provide opportunities to those with complementary skills and allow them to “own their patch.” By building the culture of learning, development, and deploying the best tools available to drive business impact, the team will rise to the occasion.
Leaning In
I was involved in a transformational moment of entertainment. While I wasn’t “officially” in marketing, I was on a small, collaborative team with strong leadership and direction, so I understood what we were trying to accomplish. I did a ton of work to measure demand for new experiences and services, adapted it to our business, and ultimately developed a journey for the end-user to ensure we could lean into this new experience. Now, any time I recline at the movies with my kids, I’m very proud of the impact I had bringing that experience across Canada.
The Best is Yet to Come
I want to see how generative AI continues to roll out in marketing. There are several trends already in full swing – content generation and editing, copyright and other types of compliance; but with everything marketing is doing, I think the best is yet to come in terms of integrating all our amazing, often customer-centric data into our daily work. “Baked in, not bolted on.” We generally have a lot of work left to do to integrate all our systems and data, then govern and propecia rezeptfrei bestellen deutschland deploy their use responsibly.
Enjoy the Journey
Enjoy the journey! It’s like walking through footprints in the snow; at least slightly different for everyone. Don’t try to do things like I did. With hindsight, I could have developed my understanding in a somewhat different way, but I’m better for it.

Understanding the key points where marketing intersects with business will only pay dividends later in your career, and you will meet some amazing people along the way who will challenge you and help you grow.
