In his CM Snapshot, Hesham ElSharnouby, CM, sees the CM designation as an opportunity to learn. Hesham mentions his challenges, adapting to the audience’s needs, what inspires him, and why investing in growth sets him apart.

Pushing Myself

I pursued the Chartered Marketer designation because it’s one of the most renowned and sought-after credentials in Canada’s marketing landscape. With over 15 years of experience, I wanted to remain ahead in this ever-evolving field. The CM designation offers a deeper dive into advanced strategies, connects me with a network of top industry professionals, and reinforces my commitment to continuous learning. It’s about constantly pushing myself further with the latest insights to deliver exceptional results.

Investing in Growth

I applied for the Chartered Marketer scholarship with the DMSC program because it was a great opportunity to advance my skills without the financial barriers that often come with professional development. I’ve always believed in investing in my growth, and this scholarship felt like the perfect way to deepen my expertise in a highly recognized program. It was a chance to learn and demonstrate my commitment to excellence in my field.

Making the Most

One of the main obstacles in the program was balancing the coursework with my professional and personal commitments. Juggling deadlines, work responsibilities, and life’s demands were sometimes challenging. I overcame this by focusing on better time management—breaking tasks into smaller, manageable chunks and setting aside dedicated study time. Staying organized and prioritizing my workload helped me stay on track. It wasn’t always easy, but I reminded myself why I started this journey, motivating me to push through and make the most of the learning experience.

Adapting to Needs

One key lesson from the program that’s changed my approach to my goals is a deeper understanding of the Canadian marketing landscape, especially how consumer habits and buying behaviours are evolving. Success is more than a great idea; it’s about truly understanding your audience and adapting to their shifting needs. This insight has pushed me to be more data-driven and consumer-focused when setting my goals, ensuring that every strategy I develop aligns with what’s happening in the market. It’s been a game-changer in how I prioritize and pursue my objectives.

Inspiration, Learning, Support

Besides the course content, the most valuable aspect of the program so far is the opportunity to network with top-tier marketers across Canada. Engaging with professionals at the forefront of the industry has broadened my perspective and provided valuable insights and practical advice that I can apply to my work. This network has been a great source of inspiration, learning, and support, making the whole experience much richer and more impactful beyond just what’s in the textbooks.

Appreciating Strategy

Marketing is more than creative campaigns—it’s a dynamic, data-driven field that requires constant adaptation and a deep understanding of consumer behaviour. I’ve gained an appreciation for the strategic side of marketing, especially how crucial it is to keep pace with trends, technology, and the evolving Canadian market. Marketing is more than a job. It’s a powerful tool for driving meaningful connections and business results, which inspires me to approach my work with even more passion and purpose.
